As the proud podium partner for the Mary Peters Trust, we were absolutely thrilled and honoured to attend this year's Golden Duck Afternoon Tea that took place on 20th May at the Everglades hotel.
The event commenced with an impactful video that captured the remarkable sporting journey and accomplishments of Mary. It highlighted the profound influence she has on athletes and sports across Northern Ireland. we had the pleasure of hearing from the Tandem twins, talented young paratriathletes who recently won silver and secured fourth place at the Commonwealth Games. Their testimonial shed light on how the Mary Peters Trust plays a crucial role in supporting them on their athletic journeys.
One of the highly anticipated highlights of the event was the Duck Race, a thrilling and light-hearted competition. Spectators enthusiastically cheered for their chosen ducks as they raced, adding an element of excitement to the day’s proceedings.
The race was then followed by a Q&A session featuring our CEO, John Harkin, and the fabulous Lady Mary Peters herself. Attendees had the opportunity to gain valuable insights and deepen their understanding of the Mary Peters Trust's mission and the impact it has on young and aspiring athletes.
The Golden Duck Afternoon Tea was not only an occasion for enjoyment but also a fundraising effort to support the Mary Peters Trust, a leading sporting charity. The funds raised during the event will go a long way in providing much needed assistance to talented individuals striving to pursue their sporting dreams. It was heart- warming to witness the generosity and support of the attendees, all united in their commitment to nurturing and empowering the next generation of athletes.
Adding to the atmosphere of the day, the marvellous Micky Doherty took on the role of host, infusing the event with his vibrant personality and charm. Guests were treated to a stunning performance by Le Foyer des Artiste, captivating everyone with their artistic talents. Additionally, the award-winning Northern Irish Operatic Soprano, Mary McCabe, graced the stage with her incredible voice, leaving the audience in awe of her talent.
