Alchemy Technology Services is delighted to share that our CEO and Founder, John Harkin has been shortlisted for EY Ireland Entrepreneur of the Year alongside a host of impressive finalists. EY Entrepreneur of the Year is a global programme that recognises entrepreneurial achievement among individuals and companies that demonstrate vision, leadership, and success. Successful candidates are also recognised for the work they do to improve the quality of life in their communities, countries and around the world.
We are thrilled that John has been recognised in this manner for his entrepreneurial efforts. John has experienced a diverse background spending years in his career working in senior roles for various companies. After gaining his experience within the technology and consulting arena throughout his career, John discovered the talent needed to run projects to implement software was lacking industry wide. With his discovery he launched Alchemy Technology Services to help fill the gap in the market by providing the knowledge, experience and talent needed for the digitisation of the global insurance industry. As a region in need of investment and job creation, Derry/Londonderry was chosen for the HQ, providing fulfilling, long lasting careers for the people in the North West Region.
John’s initial vision of a centre of excellence for insurance software implementation has grown Alchemy into a company with global clients and created over 160 employment opportunities in Northern Ireland. Alchemy continues to grow and thus far has paid out £10 million in salaries since its inception. In our lifetime Alchemy has fostered relationships with The Mary Peters Trust, The Playhouse, The Millennium Forum, City of Derry International Choir festival and Arts & Business NI. Through these relationships Alchemy hopes to continue building a caring relationship with the lives of people within our community.
Speaking on the award nomination, John stated: “Entrepreneurial spirit has always been a focus at Alchemy, from the innovative service we offer the insurance industry, to our collaborative culture. Our services are made possible by a highly qualified team, that delivers outstanding levels of consultancy for a full life cycle approach.
