In September 2018, Alchemy Technology Services emerged onto the business landscape with a commitment from Founder and CEO John Harkin: "This isn't a quick hit, create something and sell it. This is about creating a really sustainable organisation rooted in people, caring, and managing the way we grow it." Fast forward five years, and those principles still resonate at the core of our operations.
Nurturing Talent and Sustaining Growth
From the outset, Alchemy committed to contributing to the socio-economic growth of Derry and beyond. The inaugural intake of 20 graduates in November 2018 marked the beginning of a journey where 17 of the original 20 remain integral parts of the company. This achievement underscores our dedication to fostering a work environment that values longevity and professional development.
Strategic Partnerships: Guidewire and r10 Consulting
Alchemy's first partnership with Guidewire has flourished into a significant success story. With over 460 Guidewire certifications, 4 specialisms, and contributions to 54 projects across 7 countries, the journey has been both fruitful and transformative. Recognition, such as the "Outstanding Market Growth Award" at this year's Connections, validates the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of everyone involved.
After working in partnership with r10 over our first few years we had the opportunity to acquire and integrate r10 expertise into Alchemy to create a strong offering to clients within the London Market and Commercial Insurance vertical. Watch this space in 2024 as we announce our new London office and launch our services across this market to the benefit of our clients.
Evolving Spaces and Initiatives
From the early days in the City Factory with donut Fridays and after-work gatherings at Tinney's, Alchemy has evolved. The introduction of the new Bootcamp, which has become integral to our operations, reflects our commitment to continuous learning and development.
However, growth comes with its challenges. The abrupt shift to 100% remote work during the pandemic was a significant adjustment for a team deeply ingrained in our customers' offices. Yet, with resilience and a positive attitude, we faced the challenge head-on, adapting to the new normal.
Building a Community and Welcoming Diversity
As we look ahead, our focus remains on building a community that thrives on diversity and inclusion. Our commitment is evident through partnerships with community-based organizations such as Mary Peters Trust, the Millennium Forum, The Playhouse, Les Foyer des Artistes, the Queens University Bright Futures Collective, and our Charity of the Year: the Foyle Hospice.
In line with our dedication to diversity, we actively participate in Diversity Mark NI and foster a supportive environment through our Alchemy Community and Allies group.
