We were thrilled to kick off our Alchemy Book Club meetup on Thursday 13th July, all thanks to the employee led initiative from Gabrielle Skelton, our Marketing Coordinator. Gabrielle's love for books inspired her to create a book club within our workplace, giving everyone the opportunity to connect over their shared interest.
Here's what she had to say:
"I quickly realised that many people at Alchemy enjoy reading in their spare time. My goal for the book club is to create a space where people can explore and discover new genres they may have never considered before. After our first meeting, I have some ideas on how to improve our discussions and structure, but it's all part of the learning process, and I'm really looking forward to our next gathering."
The first book for the Alchemy Book Club was Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. This captivating novel follows the journey of two friends immersed in the world of video games as a developer and designer. As their ideas soar to success and fame, the story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, encompassing moments of pure joy, heart-wrenching loss, and tragedy from start to finish. What an incredible choice to kickstart our book club!
Oh, and let's not forget the delightful treat we had during our meetup - delicious pizza from Scarpellos. It added an extra layer of enjoyment to our gathering as we shared our thoughts and preferences about the book.
After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response at our meetup, we decided to award it a well-deserved rating of 4 stars
