Introduction
We were approached by a US-based global insurance organisation, which was undergoing a major transformation to modernise their core systems. To ensure their development teams were well-equipped for the transformation and ready to utilise the latest technologies and methodologies, they sought to upskill their employees to the recommended qualifications of their vendor’s software and review their existing training material. As part of our Training as a Service (TaaS) offering, we provided a bespoke condensed mentoring and coaching model with their chosen software vendor to equip them with the essential skills to meet their requirements.
What was the Challenge
Our client anticipated that training and certifying their staff to meet their software vendors' qualifications would take several months, posing a significant challenge with upcoming projects and tight deadlines. The extended training period was not feasible, as it could delay project progression and success. They needed an expedited solution to upskill their workforce quickly without compromising the quality of the qualifications.
How did Alchemy help
In collaboration with our client and the software vendor, we accelerated the certification process, providing employees with the necessary skills. Alchemy’s tailored mentoring and coaching approach equipped 12 of the client’s employees with the skills to support the transformation of their systems. Due to ongoing implementation time constraints, a virtual training model was adopted, with full Alchemy support.
Alchemy also held an 8-week Bootcamp for those who stayed in training to upskill. This programme simulated a real project environment and helped enhance the trainees' technical and soft skills. The mentoring and coaching model began with introducing essential concepts, preparing participants for effective application use and development best practices.
The final stage involved choosing a specialisation track relevant to their business needs, mentored by our experienced trainers. This structured approach ensured efficient skill development and practical readiness.
Outcome
With the support of Alchemy, employees gained hands-on experience in agile methodologies and system configuration while following clean code principles and best practices. Formal feedback was provided to the client's upper management, while informal feedback was shared with their employees through calls and retrospectives. Through this collaboration, our client has been able to demonstrate its ability to rapidly develop essential certified resources and position themselves for success in their modernisation programme.
